Keeping up with the many responsibilities as a mother can feel stressful, overwhelming and exhausting! It can be really difficult to find time to meet your own needs. But when this creates non-stop stress it can lead to anxiety, fatigue, trouble sleeping, brain fog, irritability, cravings, digestive issues, weight gain, and frequently getting sick. Luckily, Simone Graham from Simone Graham Consulting is here to help! Watch her free masterclass on her website, and check out her three simple tips for overcoming chronic stress and regaining your natural energy: 1) Sleep: First, we recommend that you reserve at least 8 hours of sleep every night. Create a dark, cool, quiet, and relaxing sleep environment, and use the bedroom for sleeping only. Remove anything that reminds you of work (documents, laptop, laundry). We recommend that you create a calm bedtime routine, and begin winding down about one hour before you want to sleep. Don’t use your phone or electronic devices during this time. 2) Nutrition: We highly recommend you increase your intake of plant based, unprocessed foods and add more whole grains, vegetables, lean protein, nuts, and beans. These will provide the vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, polyphenols, and fiber necessary for reducing stress hormones, boosting metabolism, immunity, and energy! It’s also important to reduce your intake of caffeine, and processed, fried, sugary foods. 3) Movement: We encourage you to move your body every day. But it’s important to know the right amount, type, and time of day, depending on your stress level. Too much strenuous exercise can make you feel more exhausted, so listening to your body is key! We recommend at 20 min every morning (walking, dancing, strength training) plus relaxing yoga stretches in the evening.
