Self-care includes feeding your body nutritious food. For many of us, it's hard to find the time in our busy days to cook from scratch, or we may have dietary needs, and could use some help in meeting our goals. For some of us, we are caring for a parent who is aging, and need some help in providing them with healthy meals. When we find ourselves in these situations, we often fall back on what is easy, such as fast food, or packaged processed meals. These things can be okay once in a while, but when they become staples in our diets, our health and well-being can suffer. There are many approaches to eating healthy, including low carb, low fat, gluten free, anti-inflammatory, vegetarian or vegan, Mediterranean.....and the list goes on. Some diets are proven to be better than others. Some are fads. it's easy to get overwhelmed with the virtual avalanche of information about diets, and maybe be tempted to give up and revert to our fast and easy food ways. But it's not necessary to overthink it. The best for us foods reside mostly in the outside aisles of the store: the fruits and veggies, the lean meats and whole grains. These are the foods without added salt and sugar, preservatives, fats and artificial sweeteners. These are the least processed foods. They should make up the bulk of our diets. Chefs For Seniors was built around the idea that providing nutritious meals for seniors could help them age in the comfort of their own homes, and to help prevent new or worsening disease by providing healthful meals, made from scratch. I started my Chefs For Seniors franchise in June of 2022. I had spent many years working in restaurant kitchens, and was looking for a way to pivot my career and connect more with my community. I wanted to do something good for the world. Chefs For Seniors provided that career path for me. My clients range from busy families with working parents and young kids, to older adults who need a bit of help with preparing a medically prescribed diet, to seniors in their seventies, eighties and nineties who don't want to cook for themselves anymore. I absolutely love what I do now, and I have seen first hand the impact that a service like Chefs For Seniors can have on the lives of our clients.
